De Tian Waterfall.

De Tian waterfall is one of largest waterfall of Guangxi. It is located on the border between China and Vietnam.
Although the waterfall is not too tall at only 40 meters high, it more than makes up for it in breadth. It is truly an amazing spectacle that could only be made by Mother Nature.

The best time to go for a visit is during the months of May to late August when the water level is at its highest making the falls look their most spectacular. November and December is defiantly not the time to visit because the water level is at its lowest.

Guilin is Guangxi’s most famous tourist destination, and one of China’s most underrated destinations. Guilin is world renown for its stunning landscape, parks and clean environment. Guilin was an imperial city in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and in the center of the city is an imperial palace which is older than the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Guilin has many parks. The largest and most famous is 7 Star Park named for the seven peaks located within its boundaries. There is a magnificent cave located in the park which can be visited for an added fee. The park’s zoo houses many animals indigenous to China along with its most famous residents a panda bear and a tiger.

Long Sheng

Longsheng is located in the North of Guangxi. The city proper holds little of interest, but what makes Longsheng famous, is located outside of the city itself.

It is Longsheng’s incredible “Long Ji” Rice field terraces. Construction of the rice field terraces started over 800 years ago during the Yuan Dynasty. They were built by the Yao Minority.
The Yao people were farmers by trade and were forced into the mountains by years of warfare. Since mountains contain little flat land suitable for rice farming the Yao people through an amazing feat of engineering have ingeniously turned the mountains themselves into their fields. The terraced fields must be seen to be believed.
Walking through the mist shrouded terraces one feels as though he has been transported into an ancient Chinese painting.

When visiting the terraces visitors can stay in the village of Ping An. Here visitors can find wooden hotels nestled in the mountains, which have been made the way the Yao people have been making their houses for centuries. Many of the hotels contain restaurants which serve both traditional local food, and the locally famous oil tea. The hotels can also help you find a guide to help guide you through the area.

On the other side of the terraced rice fields can be found the Longsheng Scenic Hot Springs area. The hotel where the hot springs are located is called the ‘Hot Spring Hotel’. The hotel is surrounded by the area’s natural scenery and is nestled beautifully between two mountains.
The hot springs contain over ten pools from 20 to 60 degrees Celsius. The hot springs are best enjoyed at night, where you can find total relaxation while soaking your troubles away under the light of the moon.

Next to the hotel can be found the highest cable bridge in Guangxi Province. The bride is the start of many beautiful hiking trails.
Along the hiking trails you can enjoy the magnificent natural scenery of Guangxi as well as see the local animals indigenous to the area. There are many herds of wild monkeys, which have become quite adept at stealing unobservant hiker’s food. The hiking trails lead all over the mountains, and can be taken back into the town.
Another feature of the area is wild water rafting.

How to get there: Longsheng can’t be reached in one time from Liuzhou, You have to take the bus or train to Guilin, and in Guilin you have to change busses at the bus-station to Longsheng. In Longsheng you have to change busses to Long Ji Ping An Rice terraces or to the Hot springs.

Apart from the well preserved Qing Dynasty architecture which still dominates the town, Xingping boasts some of the best natural scenery around the area.

Yangshuo is famous for being the backpackers Mecca of China. It is a place where tourists can relax and enjoy western food, and drinks in Yangshuo’s famous West Street. It is also the home of many foreign language schools, where Chinese students come to study English, so language is not a barrier in Yangshuo.

In Yangshuo, there is a never-ending variety of things to do and see. Bikes can be rented from any hotel with a guide, or visitors can set off on their own to have their own adventures.
Bamboo rafts can also be rented and visitors can observe Yangshuo and the surrounding countryside at a leisurely pace.
The mountains surrounding Yangshuo seemed to be created with the visitor in mind. There are many well known Hills, like the famous Moon Hill, and most of the hills are filled with caves just waiting to be explored.

Yangshuo is a mountain climbers’ paradise where experience guides and equipment can be hired to help climbers of every experience level to tackle the heights and get a new outlook on the world.

After a day of adventuring, a visitor can again visit West Street for some of the local dishes, of which Beer Fish is the most famous. After dinner West Street is also famous for its shopping where a visitor can find traditional crafts, and art made by the local inhabitants.

How to get there: Yangshou can be reached by bus from Liuzhou, but it’s an early farmer bus, this means it will leave early and it will stop everywhere. I recommend to take the bus or train to Guilin and change busses in Guilin to Yangshou. (4 hours)

Yizhou is a small city which is well known for its beautiful riverside scenery, and unique San Men Temple. The most beautiful part of the river can be found just outside the city. Tourists have yet to find this little paradise, so it is not touristy, and the prices are cheap.

The San Men Temple is a Buddhist temple located within San Men Mountain itself. All of the Buddha's and Arhat's are located within caves, and to enter each cave a ticket must be purchased, but the ticket itself is a bundle of incense. The incense is used for praying to the Buddha.
When a visitor has finally reached the summit of the mountain, they are rewarded with an awe-inspiring view of the beautiful countryside scenery. The mountain can be easily reached from the city center.
